Pew Pew!

I'm in Data Structures again. Apparently this is the most ideal place to write blog posts.

Anyway, lasertag club just had our Virginia Tech trip this past weekend. This was my first time attending, but I'm told that it's actually a semi-frequent event. We all had a blast, I got some sick footage on my GoPro, and now Jon is super excited to do this four times a year. We were woefully unprepared this time, but next semester we plan on getting camo club shirts and painted guns and who knows what else.

Michael, Drew and I recently got into playing Starmade again. This game has been in alpha since 2012, but it already feels like a finished game. I played it a bunch a couple of years ago, and for whatever reason we all decided to jump back into about a week ago. Since then, we've put in an insane amount of time, created the grandest ship of all time, the Swag Force One, and rotated our sleep schedules all the way around more than once. We're going to fail all of our classes if we keep this up for much longer.

Who says chivalry is dead?

Sitting in Data Structures right now. The stuff the my professor is talking about is probably really important, and I think we have an exam coming up sometime really soon, but it's hard to focus when I have the entire internet available through a powerful computer right here at my fingertips. Perhaps that's why I thought it was a good time to jump onto this blog.

I'm pretty good at all of this stuff, and I'm confident that I can learn all this material before it's too late. However, I've also got to prepare for a Film Studies exam tomorrow, which I am absolutely not ready for. I need to find out if this exam is going to cover the same stuff as the last one in addition to all the new movies, because I memory dumped the last exam's content as soon as I walked out the door. It didn't help that the entirety of my preparation consisted of some last-ditch quizlet cards for half an hour on the day of the exam. I need to make a promise to myself right here: no Chivalry for the rest of the day until I finish my CS homework and adequately study for my Film Studies exam.

Speaking of which, we've playing playing a lot of Chivalry lately. We really racked up some serious time last night, when we stayed up until three in the morning. We were doing really well too. We'll see how we fare tonight.

What an exciting break

Well Spring Break is over, and I'm back in Charlotte. I didn't really do anything over the break besides work. I somehow managed to get like thirty-some hours in, which is more than I ever did back in high school. I'm pretty excited for these next couple of paychecks.

I did actually do something over break. Dan got back last Friday since his break starts this week, so we went and saw the new movie Chappie. I didn't have high hopes for it, but it managed to blow my mind. I really enjoyed it, and nearly cried three times during it. Anyone who hasn't seen it totally should. Not only is it a well done movie that really pulls you in with the character development, but it raises some the interesting topic of consciousness, Artificial Intelligence, and the preservation of the human consciousness after death. Cool stuff.

Snowy Spring Break

I'm back in Raleigh again for Spring break. I technically got back yesterday, but I then immediately left for Brian's house and stayed overnight there. As a result, I have three or four gameplay videos to edit, on top of the two I already had to do.

That's another thing. Have I mentioned that I've been getting more active on youtube again? Thacher and I have been recording gameplay and throwing it up there. I hope our attention span lasts long enough for our channels to start picking up. At least we've got the time to do stuff like this now, unlike back in high school.

Anyway, I got on the schedule for work later. I actually have to be there in less than an hour from now. This will be the first time I've been on a register since Winter break, so I hope my times don't drop too much.

Half an Inch of Snow

School was cancelled for all of today. Originally, it was only supposed to be cancelled till 11am but they extended it this morning. Additionally, school is cancelled until noon tomorrow.

And I love it.

I'm not doing anything with all this extra time, but not having class in the middle of the week is amazing. Especially when one of those missed classes is my hella long weekly LBST, which I dread. Now I've just got to get motivated to do my homework that's due tomorrow.

Just remembered while writing this post that I actually don't have to go to any classes tomorrow, since my only class that is after noon is having its exam, which is totally online. Woooo, no class!

There's a new Spongebob movie?!

Blogging from my Data Structures class, since there's really not much point in paying attention to anything that's going on. I've got Spotify playing and can barely hear what the professor is saying.

This last weekend was just as useless as all the previous ones, as expected. I've created and started spending basically 100% of my time in the #LGBTeens Google Hangout however, which has been fun. It gives something to do most of the time, even if I end up just sitting in my dorm room.

I also went to go see the new Spongebob movie Saturday evening. I expected it to be much more ridiculous than the previous one, given the change of writers and general decline of the show in the last few years. As such, I wasn't surprised with the shit plot, character development, and weird actiony sequences, but what I loved about it was the randomly interspersed adult and legacy references to way, way back in the early years of the show. 6/10, 7/10 with rice.

Boring Friday

I have no plans for today. I wanted to go see a friend in Salisbury this weekend, but he's yet to text me back about it. I woke up at something like 9AM, and immediately took a nap for two hours. It's now nearly noon, and I still don't know what I'm doing. I'll have to get some food at some point, I suppose. Urgh.

Hopefully things will pick up after not too long, because I don't think I can handle this for much longer.

Writing in Writing class

I'm in my writing class right now, which is the earliest class I have. I was nearly late getting here since I last-minute decided to pick up some Starbucks.

I've only got one more class before I'm done for this week, and that last class is psychology. We just had our first test earlier this week, so I presume we'll be starting on completely new content today, which should mean that I get to just sit there on Reddit and not really do anything. That's how most of my classes go anyway, so nothing new there.

Someone remind me to do some homework later. I've got both Data Structures and Sociology work to do that I've been putting off. I know that no one ever reads this, but if you do... I dunno, send me an email or something.

Fun weekend

So this past weekend was just as lazy as all the weekends before it, with the exception that my family came in on Saturday. Even that was pretty uneventful, since all we did was walk around campus some. I would've liked to go around even more of campus, but I don't think everyone else was as excited as I was.

Right now I'm sitting in my Data Structures class, which is never very exciting. I don't think the professor noticed that I was here, so I'm going to have to go talk to him after class to make sure I'm not marked absent.

Am sick?

I think whatever sickness I've had is passing. I feel a lot better, and will hopefully be fine by tomorrow. Adam and I have to be at the 5k event to volunteer by 7 am, and it's going to suck if I'm still sick.

Thacher just walked across campus to hang out in Moore again, which has happened several times this week now. Apparently my room is the place to be now, since no one ever hangs out in Lynch.

I've got all this homework to do, but I've done literally zero work today. This is shaping up to be another very lazy weekend.

Am Sick

So I'm really sick right now. I've been sick since last Sunday. And it's terrible. My whole head hurts, I'm going through tissues like nobody's business, and I have literally zero urge to even move. I'm laying on the leisure mattress right now, which is a new thing, and it's going to be tough to get off it to go to class in 20 minutes.

My mom, grandma and brother are driving over here to visit this weekend. They should be here sometime Saturday night. I'm kind of excited, but I totally have no idea what we're going to do. Take a tour of campus, I guess? My brother has never been here before, so showing him around will be cool. Maybe I'll be able to convince him to come to this school... He's only a junior in high school right now so the timing isn't great, but we'll see.

Also, I don't know if I wrote about this, but I had to go to the ER a few weeks ago. Wiped out while ice skating and demolished my face. Got this sick scar above my left eyebrow though, which, while pretty unsightly, is still pretty cool.

Early class is early, and new food is new.

I cannot handle these early classes. I just had my first ever 8am class, and it was seriously not ok. I yawned at least nine times during the class, and I could tell that people were noticing. I've got a load of Starbucks credit since everyone ever saw it fit to give me gift cards for Christmas, but I don't think they're going to last.

I'd use my db on Starbucks, but I feel like I should save it for the Den, considering how much I'm likely to go there. A 24 hour Denny's that's only a 15 second walk from the back door of my building? Fuck yeah I'm spending money there. My only problem with it is that it's so expensive to get regular sized meals there. I'll have to do some research and find which menu items are most cost efficient. I have 300 dollars this semester as opposed to the 200 I had last semester though, so at least I have that going for me.

Speaking of which, the Den is located in South Village Crossing, which is now open as of two days ago. We went in and scoped it out before they even started serving food, and I gotta say, that building is fantastic. It seems like the kind of place I could hang out all day in with a hella big Starbucks drink and just do homework or whatever. The dining hall in SoVi is really cool, but they haven't really been handling the newly-opened rush that it seems to be getting. With any luck, it will get better as teh semester progresses. Adam and I went this morning for breakfast though, and there were only a few people in there. I guess no one wants to get food at 7am, regardless of how new said food is.

Crown Commons has been basically empty as well. This is great.
